Information technology for road lifecycle support

The article discusses a role and a place of IT in road design and road industry management. Attention is given to widely discussed capabilities of BIM technology with regards to effectiveness increase of urban-planning activities, and particularly the possibility of application of BIM in road industry. The estimation of current situation is shown by the example of "Russian Highways" State Company, in which it is actively discussed a role and a place of information technologies in the professional activities and made a wide approbation of applicability of different approaches. In conclusion it is given a forecast for the further development of the process in road industry.
