Digital camera as a practical survey instrument: problems and solutions

DOI: 10.17273/CADGIS.2014.1.11

  • J. Jarroush, Ph.D. in cartography & geoinformatics, chief technical officer (CTO) of Datumate LLC (Nazareth, Israel)

The article considers the practical use of modern digital cameras as geodetic survey equipment. As a main technology it is suggested a ground photogrammetry, which allows to determine geometric properties of objects basing on the photographic images. Main attention is given to solving issues of ground photogrammetry, such as camera calibration and further images processing. To confirm the efficiency of this approach it is given a description of field-testing and results, obtained during the testing.
