The article is devoted to application geoinformation systems (GIS) with computer-aided design systems (CAD). The system abilities are used to choose optimal road traces taking into account the criterion of relief gradient (with minimum ground cover gradient) and its redaction according to normative criteria of geometric tracing, that contributes to minimize volume of earthworks on rocky ground regions, where the value of excavation is much more.
