Geoinformation systems as the tool of engineering and highway state management are discussed long ago and have many examples of practice realization. Changing GIS roles and the place in context of informational modelling paradigm are considered in this article. Foreign experience and normative base accompanying to introduce the informational modelling (BIM) process in the practice of feasibility study, design, construction and exploitation of capital construction objects and particularly highways are paid significant attention.
